Harbaugh to Team: Embrace the Polls

I can't stop writing about this guy.

The confidence Jim Harbaugh has in his team in incredible, and rightly so, as I've already said; they are my title favorite. I think this is the best team in the country, and Harbaugh does too. An offensive line coach said that, before the UCF game, Harbaugh told the team that they do care about the rankings. Apparently Harbaugh also stressed that now they are being ranked up there (No. 4) they should be fighting to be ranked higher every week.

Obviously the goal is to be ranked higher every week, but it's new for a coach to talk his team about this goal -- or at least be open about it. This is new and very different from anything we have seen before. You never hear Nick Saban, or Urban Meyer, Mark Dantonio talking about how he cares about the rankings.

I love how much he is shaking up the status quo, and it's like he tops himself every week. Week one he didn't give out game film; he gave this speech before the week two game, and this week he finally got called out for not releasing a depth chart before games (see article). Sports fans eat this up, but he is really just making himself easy to play for. Whether he did it intentionally or not, Harbaugh has made himself into a guy that his player would run through a brick wall for.

As I said, his team is gonna do big things; watch out for Big Blue.
