There was a lot of hype around the Mean Machine coming into the season, that hype took a sucker punch on Monday. The MM fell to 2 Turnips in Heat 33-19. The opponent was full of a bunch of 6th year seniors who must've stuck around for the parties and the flag football league. It was a tale of two halves for the Mean Machine. They went into halftime on top 19-13, but were held scoreless the rest of the way.

Player/ Interm Head Coach Alex Pastrick was proud of his teams performance even with the loss. Pastrick said the loss does hurt, but if you take away the fact that we didn't know half the rules we played really well.

"I loved are teams effort on both sides of the ball. We will head into this week of practice and work on some of the issues we had on defense in the 2nd half. Offensively, we will need better pass protection. Dave (Heisel) was running for his life in the second half. We can't afford to be inconsistent with our pass protection." said Pastrick.

Heisel led the way offensively throwing for 3 TD's and 1 INT. Heisel connected with Spencer Haught on a streak to give the Mean Machine their first points of the season. Kyle Singer and Tommy Laffey IV added the other two touchdowns. As for the defense, there wasn't much to write home about after giving up 34 points. Dave Heisel and myself each had an INT.

Next week, the Mean Machine square off with Hoover Trap (0-1). Hoover Trap fell to Spider 2 Y Banana 46-30. The team is confident they will walk off the Mill Street Field's Monday night as the winners. The playoff push is on for the Mean Machine. They can't afford to slip up again like they did on Monday.
