Mean Machine Season Preview

"The League won't know what hit them."

This season, and most likely the next 4 years, I will cover 7v7 flag football at Ohio University. Well, my team at least. A bunch of rag tag guys from Gamertsfelder Hall come together to become the Mean Machine. Paul Crewe would be proud of these boys. We got loads of talent. This is going to get BSN to the next level no doubt.

Here is a exclusive look at the roster:

Jeremy Ewalt: WR/CB (Galloway, OH)
Ben Delay: WR/CB/SS (Worthington, OH)
Alex Pastrick: WR/TE (Cleveland, OH)
Dave Heisel: QB1/WR/CB/SS (Cincinnati, OH)
Spencer Haught: WR/TE/MLB (Akron, OH)
Jacob Geiser: QB2/WR/CB/SS (Cincinnati, OH)
Thomas Laffey IV: TE/CB (Cleveland, OH)
Dante DiBucci: TE/NT/MLB (Pittsburgh, PA)
Kyle Singer: QB3/WR/CB (Rochester, NY)

The Mean Machine had their first scrimmage against some dudes from Beta and we beat them silly. 7-4 was the final, but the score doesn't reflect that the Mean Machine squad owned them. Little scrimmage at Peden Stadium didn't hurt nobody. Dave Heisel impressed at the QB position, and was lockdown on defense having 4 INT's on the night. I'm going to give you my outlook on the team, then my coach will come in. But first, on the IR is Alex Pastrick. OU Homecoming got the best of him this past weekend. While trying to do a backflip the kid shattered his kneecap. He is hoping to be ready for the regular season, but it doesn't look possible. He should be ready to go come playoff time though.

Offensively, we are loaded. You can liken the Mean Machine to an Air Raid style offense. OC Myself loves the makeup on the offense, with a solid QB, and good WR's, it is a lethal offensive scheme. Vertical threats are everywhere along with the short passing game. Singer, Delay, Laffey IV, and DiBucci are great deep threats. TE Dante DiBucci really impressed me in the scrimmage versus Beta. Slot receivers Ewalt and myself are wild cards. You never know what you are going to get out of the two of us. Haught was nowhere to be found at the scrimmage, but he said he will be ready come Monday.

Defensively, we run a 1-5-1 with the big boy Dante up front. Defense Coordinator Ben Delay loves what linebackers Dante and Spencer bring to the table.

"They can drop back into coverage or rush the passer very well, love what those two boys bring to the Mean Machine." said Delay

Lockdown CB/SS Dave Heisel & Ben Delay could be the best corner/safety combo in the league. Everybody else on defense just gets the job done, nothing special about them.

The first game of the season is next Monday at 9 P.M. Primetime flag football for the Mean Machine in their first season. Owner/GM/Player/Head Coach Jeremy Ewalt has nothing but high praise for his squad.

"Like the talent we have at the WR position, we have a lot of guys who can line up at different spots on the offense and do their job. I love my teams grit." said Ewalt. He also told me that defensively he loves the coverage and tenacity we play with. Should be a good year.

The division we are in seems average at best. I mean just look at the team names. I will admit, love Spider 2 Y Banana. I got respect for them just based on their team name. The other two teams are probably trash. Not worried about it. Mean Machine will go 4-0 in the division, you can lock it in.

This team is going to win it all, BSN will be here all season to cover the teams run for the title. Stay tuned.
