Notre Dame's Bounceback Game

This week No. 18 Notre Dame takes on No. 12 Michigan State; it's their first game against a ranked opponent this year and their best opportunity to reassert themselves as an elite team after their heartbreaking week one loss to Texas.

Going into the game, the Texas vs. Notre Dame match-up looked like it was going to be great for both teams. Both teams were gonna have a test week one. Notre Dame had the chance to get a good win over a Big 12 team, and Texas had a chance to prove they weren't going to be pushover like they have been for several years now. The game ended up falling in Texas' favor, but I was impressed with what I saw from Notre Dame. However, a loss is a loss when it come to the polls.

Sparty will be traveling to South Bend Saturday to play in what could be the best game of the week. Notre Dame will get the
chance to prove that, although they may have slipped up in Austin, they are a team to beat this year and can compete for a spot in the playoffs down the stretch. A win against a ranked Michigan State, who will pick up good wins in the Big 10 this year, will mean a lot for the Irish.

And this is a very winnable game for Notre Dame. ESPN Football Power Index gives the Irish a 78% chance of winning and Vegas has them listed as an 8 point favorite. DeShone Kizer has continued to impress since he turned the 2 QB system with Malik Zaire into his full time starting job. He has the fifth best QBR in the nation and he's racked up nine total TDs through two games. I think he is going to have another solid game this week against an untested MSU defense. The Spartan offense didn't look like it was anything special in their first match-up, but the Notre Dame defense hasn't looked spectacular this year yet either. However, I think they'll eventually become a solid unit and if they can continue to force turnovers and make big plays like taking blocked PATs back to the house they can put the team in a position to win.

I think Notre Dame puts itself back in the top 10 with a win. #Go78Go
