Shannon Sharpe with a HUGE Overreaction

Last night, the Denver Broncos started a QB who had never thrown an NFL pass before, Trevor Siemian. He had a nice game for his first start against one of the NFL's elite defenses. Denver was able to snake the win off of a missed FG with 9 seconds left in the game.

During the recap of the game the constant question was: "Can Siemian replace Peyton Manning?" My take: no, he won't have a Hall of Fame season, but he isn't going to lead the team down the toilet. Will he be able to win a Super Bowl, be a clutch QB, and command one of the best offenses in the league? No, but he can get the job done. He's a rookie; the guy is still learning.

Shannon Sharpe had a very different take on today's episode of FS1's Undisputed. He didn't outright say that Siemian was better than Manning but he did say the the Broncos are better off with the new guy than they were with Manning. Skip Bayless came back fighting a solid point for once and made the very obvious point that Siemian looked good but is not better than Manning, and the Broncos are not better off with Siemian. The clip is below.

Siemian didn't have a breakout game, but he played well enough to put his team in a position to win. This game by no means showed that he is going to be the next elite NFL QB and be a Super Bowl winner performing a Peyton Manning's level. If I'm a Broncos fan, I'm happy with his performance, but I'd much rather have 18 taking snaps. Sieman's statline is below. As you can see good, not great. He'll win some games with help from his defense, but he needs to take better care of the ball.

Nobody can replace 18, lax on it Shannon.
